IT Business Analyst (BA)
We are seeking an experienced, motivated Business Analyst to join our growing IT organization.  The BA will work collaboratively with our application development team and business units and be responsible for gathering, eliciting, documenting, and communicating business requirements in clear, detailed user stories and use cases that can be used by application developers and testers.  The BA will ensure that IT solutions developed and implemented satisfy business requirements.  The successful candidate must be a resourceful, creative, team-oriented analyst who can work collaboratively with others to deliver solutions.

Job Requirements

Essential Duties:
  • Work with business units and other stakeholders to gather information utilizing a variety of techniques such as interviews, work sessions, storyboarding, and prototyping.
  • Elicit, analyze, document, and communicate business requirements.
  • Understand project scope, project goals, product functionality, and desired features.
  • Evaluate customer needs/issues, analyze business processes, assist in evaluating alternatives, and determine appropriate solutions with IT staff.  
  • Help determine level of effort and time required for solution delivery.
  • Define user stories with applicable acceptance criteria in collaboration with business subject-matter experts and IT.
  • Analyze high-level business requirements and translate them into more detailed user stories, use cases, and other functional requirements documents such as process flows, screen mock-ups, gap analysis, etc.
  • Assist developers and provide guidance as needed. 
  • Assist with development of test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.Participate in testing and analysis of testing results as needed.Assist with troubleshooting and providing recommended solutions.
  • Identify and assist in resolving issues, questions, and scope/requirements gaps quickly and effectively to enable delivery and support of applications.
  • Create documents and other artifacts to promote sustainable knowledge management within the organization.
  • Learn quickly and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Conduct research and proactively make recommendations to improve application delivery.
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment that requires the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Write effective SQL queries to aid analysis and support activities.
 
Job Requirements   
  • BS degree in computer science or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as an IT business analyst or systems analyst.
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis best practices and methodologies,
  • Excellent partnering skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with various people in business, operations, and IT.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively conduct requirements gathering sessions and concisely documenting the outcome.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to details
  • Proven experience creating user stories, uses cases, process flows, wireframes, and data mappings.
  • Experience with user interface (UI) design.
  • Working knowledge of full lifecycle application development.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
  • Self-starter, able to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
  • Quick learner who can work effectively and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and proactively offer suggestions and resolutions.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and thorough in assignments.
  • Ability to write basic SQL queries for research, analysis, and to investigate issues
  • Agile/Scrum experience is preferred.
